This month we celebrate our 10th anniversary. We are lining up a few offers over the coming month to celebrate this milestone but first up lets look back at where it all began.

Urban Balcony started out as a small inner city garden store in Surry Hills. It was then known as Lily Moon Garden Design selling pots, plants, potting mix and garden tools. Located in a converted terrace on Crown Street the vibe was rustic and tranquil. A welcome relief from my previous life in air conditioned offices!

We found our feet over the first two years, expanded the product range and edited the overall feel of the store. By early 2007 we were ready for a name change, something that worked with our unique mix of gardenwares. Furniture, pots and accessories that particularly suited small inner city spaces. A name that put a contemporary spin on outdoor spaces and living in the city.

And so Lily Moon Garden Design became Urban Balcony in May 2007. As we settled into our new name it became apparent the Surry Hills store was too small and a little too rustic. In 2008 we opened the Pyrmont store, with its white walls and shinny white floor this allowed us to really showcase the Urban Balcony concept.

Over the last 10 years our website has also evolved. From a single page in 2005 to our new fully responsive web platform with hundreds of visitors every day.

And now, 10 years since it all began, I am back spending my days in an office but I get to talk to people and share my knowlegde about a subject I love. I spend my time looking for inspiration, sourcing great products and solving design delimas for our many customers. As an online store we now focus on finding great solutions for our customers and sharing our knowledge and experience with many more people.

To celebrate this anniversary we have a few speical offers lined up. Sign up to our newsletter or follow us on facebook to ensure you don't miss out!

Nothing tells a story like few pictures so here is 10 years of memories condensed into a handful of pictures.
